A Critical Distinction

Both mean your Add to Cart button is gone.
That is where the similarity ends.

Most sellers treat Buy Box Lost and Buy Box Suppressed as the same problem — and apply the wrong fix every time. They look identical from the outside: the Add to Cart button is gone, conversions have stopped. SentryKit fires a distinct alert for each because the data you need and the action you take are completely different.

Buy Box Lost
A competitor is holding your Buy Box right now.
Your listing is active. Another seller won the Add to Cart button. Every sale on this ASIN goes to them until you act. The cause is competitive — price, fulfilment advantage, or a seller performance edge.
SentryKit alert includes
Who took it — seller identity, account age, feedback rating Their fulfilment method (FBA or FBM) Exact price gap vs your current price Whether matching would breach your floor — and by how much 3 ranked options — hold, match within floor, or report
Buy Box Suppressed
Amazon removed the Buy Box from this listing entirely.
No seller holds it — not you, not a competitor. The Add to Cart button is gone. Buyers see "See All Buying Options" — a click most won't make. The cause is a listing or pricing issue on your side. Repricing cannot fix this.
SentryKit alert includes
Suppression confirmed — Buy Box removed by Amazon Likely cause flagged (pricing threshold / listing health) Exact timestamp of suppression event 3 options — what to check first in Seller Central
Buy Box Suppressed is a listing health problem — not a competitive signal. No price move will restore it until the underlying listing or pricing issue is resolved. SentryKit fires separate alerts for Lost and Suppressed so you always start with the right fix.
The Alert

Here's exactly what lands
in your inbox — with everything you need to act.

SentryKit doesn't just tell you the Buy Box changed. It tells you who took it, at what price, whether their profile makes them a competitor to match or a hijacker to report, and whether fighting back would breach your floor — so you can decide before leaving the alert.

From Alert to Recovery

The alert tells you what happened.
Here's how sellers act on the data.

SentryKit's Buy Box alerts are designed to make the next step obvious — not leave you guessing. The path splits the moment the alert fires based on which event occurred. Both paths are in the alert.

Buy Box Lost — Recovery Path
1
Read the seller profile before doing anything else.
The alert shows the winning seller's storefront ID, account age, feedback rating, and fulfillment method. A 3-day-old FBM account at 74% feedback is not a competitor to match — it's a seller to report. An established FBA seller with 98% feedback at $0.50 below your price is a different situation entirely. The profile tells you which response applies before you make any move.
2
Check the floor breach calculation — it's in the alert.
SentryKit shows you the exact dollar gap between the competitor's price and your floor. If matching puts you below floor, the alert flags it explicitly — with the breach amount. Do not chase a price that sells you below your calculated break-even, even if it temporarily recovers the Buy Box. Check whether a partial match — closing some of the gap while staying above floor — recovers position.
3
Apply the fix that matches who took it.
The seller profile points you to one of three paths:
Unauthorized seller (new account, low feedback, FBM): Use the storefront ID from the alert to file a Report a Violation in Seller Central or through Amazon Brand Registry if you own the brand. Do not compete on price — you have everything needed for the report in the alert.
Legitimate FBA competitor near your price: Decide whether to adjust price within floor, hold and monitor, or assess whether your fulfillment method (FBM vs FBA) is the actual gap. Amazon weights fulfilment speed in Buy Box allocation — a price match may not recover it if their FBA speed wins.
Inventory-driven loss (your FBA stock low): The Buy Box can rotate to competitors before your inventory hits zero. Check FBA stock levels in Seller Central and consider an emergency shipment or FBM backup to prevent a full loss window.
4
Confirm Buy Box recovery before resuming ad spend.
SentryKit's ownership log shows the exact timestamp when the Buy Box returns to your account. Don't assume the fix worked — confirm it. Running Sponsored Products without the Buy Box means paying for clicks that convert to someone else's listing. Only resume campaigns after SentryKit shows you're back in ownership.
Buy Box Suppressed — Recovery Path
1
Stop. Repricing will not fix suppression. Start with eligibility.
Suppression is a listing health issue, not a competitive signal. The alert tells you the Buy Box is gone entirely — no seller holds it. Go to Seller Central → Inventory → Manage Inventory and check the Buy Box Eligible column for the flagged ASIN. If it shows "No" — suppression is confirmed. Do not reprice until the eligibility issue is resolved.
2
Find the root cause — it's almost always one of three things.
Price above Amazon's reference price threshold: Check your listed price against the reference price shown in Seller Central under Manage Pricing. Amazon suppresses the Buy Box when your price exceeds their fair pricing threshold. Bring your price within the threshold range to restore eligibility.
Account health metric below threshold: Go to Account Health in Seller Central. Any metric — Order Defect Rate, Late Shipment Rate, Valid Tracking Rate — below Amazon's threshold can trigger Buy Box eligibility loss across all your ASINs.
Listing content or policy flag: Check the Listing Quality tab in Seller Central. A missing required attribute, a policy-flagged image, or a flat file error can suppress the Buy Box on a specific ASIN even if your pricing is correct.
3
Fix the cause, then watch SentryKit to confirm the Buy Box is restored.
After resolving the issue — adjusting price within Amazon's threshold, restoring an account health metric, or fixing the listing content flag — monitor the ownership log in SentryKit. The log shows you the exact timestamp when the Buy Box returns to your account. Only resume ad campaigns after you see that timestamp. Suppression can lift within hours of a pricing fix, or take 24–48 hours for a listing content change.
How It Works

Intelligence that tells you who, why, and what to do.
Not just that something changed.

SentryKit monitors Buy Box ownership across your full catalog continuously — connected directly to your Amazon account. Every alert ships with the context that makes the decision obvious.

Seller Profile on Every Buy Box Lost Event
When a competitor takes your Buy Box, SentryKit surfaces their storefront ID, account age, feedback rating, and fulfillment channel (FBA or FBM). Pro tier. The data that tells you whether to match, hold, or report — before you've made a decision you can't undo.
Floor Breach Check Built Into Every Alert
Every Buy Box Lost alert includes the exact dollar gap between the competitor's price and your floor price. If matching puts you below your floor, the alert tells you before you decide — not after you've already dropped your price and eroded your margin.
Lost and Suppressed as Separate Alerts
Most tools collapse Buy Box state into a single "something changed" signal. Buy Box Lost means a competitor won it. Buy Box Suppressed means Amazon removed it. Different cause, different fix, different urgency. SentryKit fires them as separate alerts with separate recovery paths every time.
30-Day Free Trial — All ASINs, Every Plan
Buy Box Lost and Suppressed alerts are included on every SentryKit plan. Starter ($19/mo) — up to 2,000 orders/month, real-time alerts, floor breach check on every event. Frequently Asked Questions

Buy Box Lost means a competitor won ownership of the Add to Cart button — there is a seller to identify, a price to benchmark, and a recovery path that depends on who they are. Buy Box Suppressed means Amazon removed the Buy Box from the listing entirely — no seller holds it, and the cause is a listing or pricing issue on your end. Repricing cannot fix a suppressed Buy Box — that requires resolving the underlying issue first. SentryKit fires separate alerts for each state because the response is completely different.
Every SentryKit Buy Box Lost alert includes: the winning seller's storefront ID, account age, feedback rating, and fulfillment method (FBA or FBM); their listed price and your current price; the exact dollar gap; whether matching would put you above or below your floor price and by how much; the exact timestamp of the change; and three ranked recovery options so you know whether to match, hold, or file a report before you leave the alert. Seller profile data is available on Pro tier.
First, identify whether the alert is Buy Box Lost or Buy Box Suppressed — the response is completely different. For Lost: review the seller profile in the alert to determine whether to match, hold, or report. Check the floor breach calculation before adjusting price. For Suppressed: check your listed price against Amazon's reference price threshold in Seller Central, and review your listing for any flagged content or policy issues. SentryKit includes the specific recovery path in every alert so the next step is always clear.
Yes — this is Buy Box Suppressed, not Buy Box Lost. When your price exceeds Amazon's reference price threshold, or your account health metrics fall below eligibility criteria, Amazon removes the Buy Box from the listing entirely regardless of whether any competitor is present. Being the only seller does not prevent suppression. SentryKit fires a Buy Box Suppressed alert in this scenario, distinct from Buy Box Lost, so you know immediately that repricing will not fix it.
The most common cause is your listed price exceeding Amazon's competitive reference price threshold. Other causes include account health metrics falling below Amazon's eligibility thresholds (Order Defect Rate, Late Shipment Rate, Valid Tracking Rate), missing required listing attributes, image policy violations, or a flat file upload error. In all cases, the issue is on your listing or account side — no competitor won your Buy Box, Amazon removed it. SentryKit's Buy Box Suppressed alert identifies the event so you can address the correct problem immediately.
